Army, Protesters Clash at Lazoghli

Trying to take weekends off from blogging only works if the Middle East takes weekends off.

The excitement of the last couple of days in Cairo had limits. Protesters today took on the center of State Security power, the main Ministry of the Interior in Lazoghli, not far from Tahrir Square. The Army insisted they had secured the place and the documents within, but did not allow the protesters to enter, and fired warning shots when they persisted. Things are still rather tense and there is resentment of the Army. Obviously, the Army is going to try to control and channel protests, and the release of so many State Security documents in recent days is doubtless causing embarrassment in high places.
